Outlook 2007 Stops Updating RSS Feeds Fix

Outlook 2007 RSS Feed ListOutlook 2007 has a nice RSS feed reader built in. The problem with it (Microsoft are you listening) is that it randomly just stops updating some of the feeds. It can be hard to notice when they stop updating because some of the feeds will continue to update. I read Dilbert every day but it took me 10 days to notice that my Dilbert RSS feed had stopped updating.

If you notice that some of your feeds are not updating, in Outlook go to: Tools/Account Settings/RSS Feeds and make sure all your feeds are listed. If any are missing they won’t update.

To get your feeds to start updating again is rather simple. Navigate your “Mail Folders” list down to the “RSS Feeds” section. Simply click on each feed that is not updating. When you click on the feed not only will Outlook display that feed but it will go behind the scenes and re-add it to the update list. If you go back to: Tools/Account Settings/RSS Feeds you should now see all your feeds listed. The next time you do a “Send/Receive” all your feeds should update.

I don’t know the cause of this problem, only the fix. If anyone knows how to keep this from happening in the first place please leave a comment.
