Parrots are very much like people. While you can assign general behaviors to different breeds each bird is very much an individual.
For example when I got Thor I was hoping for a bird that could travel with me. As it turned out Thor is very nervous around strange people and new things. As a result he has to stay home. On the other hand our friend Cheeky (another Cape) was very calm and did do classroom visits and didn't mind hanging out with a room full of strangers.
You might want to consider a mature bird rather than a baby for your situation. There are many rescue organizations that could find you a match. A Cape could be the right bird for you and then again might not.
