Hi there,
My cape is about 7 years old. I have had him for 4 years I think...boy does time fly. I am the second caregiver. The first gave him to me because he chewed on their furniture. He doesn't do that in my house but chews on me instead
He is extremely aggressive with all his toys and all my other birds. He constantly makes a very high pitch "wheet" noise and holds his wings away from his body and kind of shakes them. I can not let him out when any of my other birds are out because he has already attacked my parakeet and broke his wing and punctured a hole in my IRN. Both birds are fine thank god. So now when he is out I have to cover the little birds cage because he will even attack them through the bars.
The only time I think he is really happy is when he sits on my knee while I watch TV. Then after a while he will just climb down and attack my shoes viciously.
I feel like I am a failure because when I got him he didn't have these behavioral problems. I have 8 other birds..from a cockatoo to a parakeet and they are all well behaved and I have never had any problems, other than small ones, with them or with aggression from any of them.
Does anyone have any advice for me? this has been on for at least 2 years now and I get so frustrated.
Thank you, Brandie
