- Comments:
- Orantje's previous owner had lost her mate and let her pluck for 18 months before selling her to us (he did not have the money to replace the mate). We traced her history and were shocked to find out that she had been imported from SA in 1993 or 1994 and we were at least the 4th owners! She has been paired with Plucky and both of them sem to be very happy together. As both came to us plucked (all medical causes like PBFD etc. were excluded), we wanted them to be in peak condition before allowing them to breed. They have now regained full feather and we will see if they want to breed in a couple of months time. Irrespective of the outcome of this - we will most certainly not sell them on should they fail to breed! They have benn through enough.
